Single Tooth Implant

A single-tooth implant is a titanium cylinder placed in your bone when you are missing a tooth. Tooth Implants function like the natural tooth and replaces it without affecting the health of the neighboring teeth. The implant will integrate with your jawbone and keep your bone level healthy and intact.

Endosteal implants are the most commonly placed implants. These are surgically placed into the jawbone. Once the surrounding gum tissue has healed, a second procedure is needed to connect an abutment to the original implant. This abutment helps the gum form the ideal position for the future crown. Finally, an artificial tooth (crown) is attached to the abutment.

How do single-tooth implants work?

A single-tooth implant consists of several parts:

  • The implant — Made of titanium, shaped like a screw or post, is placed into the jawbone.
  • The abutment — Made of titanium, gold, or porcelain, is attached to the implant. This part connects the implant to the crown.
  • The crown — Made of Zirconia, porcelain fused to metal (PFM), or all-metal. Your crown will be made to match your other teeth and will be attached to the abutment.
